Correia-Xavier, Incorporated (CX) is a firm specializing in providing agricultural appraisal and consulting services. CX is considered to be on of the premier providers of appraisal services for all types of rural and agricultural properties and facilities located throughout the west coast. In October 1992, Tony Correia, ARA, and Stanley Xavier, Jr. joined forces to form CX. Since then, these long-time business associates, along with their staff of highly qualified agricultural appraisers, have focused on creating a company committed to providing the highest quality of appraisal and consulting services, with a special emphasis on the valuation of larger, complex agricultural properties and facilities, the wine industry, estate planning and succession, undivided property interest and discounts, litigation support, tax assessments, and equipment valuation, as well as water rights, eminent domain takings and conversation easements.
Stanley Xavier, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of CX, has over twenty-five years experience in the appraisal of rural and agricultural property and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of CX. Stan has appraised rural property for many governmental agencies, major agricultural lenders, insurance companies, pension funds, pension fund advisors, corporations, attorneys, accountants and property owners throughout California and is qualified as an expert witness in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County and Federal Bankruptcy Court in California. Stan is a candidate member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA). He is also a member and past director of the San Joaquin Valley Ag Lenders Society, in addition to numerous other agricultural and appraisal societies. Stan is licensed by the State of California as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and has served on the Appraisal Review Committee of the California Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. Stan is the former manager and Vice President of Charles Tingey Associates Ag Services Division, where he supervised the agricultural investment brokerage, appraisal, and consulting services of the company. He graduated from the University of California at Davis, after which he completed Post Baccalaureate Studies in Agricultural Business at California State University, Fresno.
Tony Correia has over thirty years experience in the appraisal of rural property and holds the professional designation of Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA), the highest and only title conferred on Rural Appraisers by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (AFSMRA). Tony specializes in the appraisal of large, complex agricultural properties, with a specific focus on the wine industry, undivided partial interests, and water rights. After serving as President of CX for sixteen years, effective June 30, 2008, Tony retired from his position and sold his interest in the company to his long-time associate, Stan Xavier. As Tony begins to ease into full retirement, he will continue to be associated with CX as an independent contractor working out of the company’s Sonoma location, continuing to provide appraisal, consulting and litigation services, with a special emphasis on the wine industry. Tony has been an instructor of appraisal and valuation courses throughout the nation and in Mexico for many years, and is also a frequent public speaker on agricultural, appraisal, taxation, and estate planning issues, and the vineyard and wine industries. He has been a guest speaker for many organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Appraisal Institute, the American Society of Appraisers, the Land Trust Alliance, the California CPA Education Foundation, and many institutions of higher education. Tony is also qualified as an Expert Witness in many courts, a member and past chairman of the Fresno County Tax Assessment Appeals Board, a past President of the California Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and a member and past president of Chapter 50 of the International Right of Way Association. After undergraduate work at Saint Mary’s College of California and Syracuse University, Tony graduated from California State University, Fresno, with a major and post-graduate work in English and a second major in Russian. Prior to his career in appraisal, Tony was a grape grower and a military intelligence analyst, cryptologist, and linguist. Tony has also been employed in various local, state and federal government positions, including that of an IRS examiner. Tony lives in Sonoma, California with his wife, Stephanie.
